László Hudec's legacy has travelled the world: it was the subject of events in Shanghai, in Budapest and in the architect's hometown Banska Bystrica, as well other cities such as Paris and Cleveland. His unique achievement of being the designer of more than 60 still standing buildings in one city, during a short period of 30 years, of wich 32 are under heritage protection, gave the focus of conferences and cultural events.

ART DECO Budapest-Shanghai

The conference related to the 13th Art Deco World Congress was jointly organized with the Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai in the city's famous Hudec building, the Green Villa, in cooperation with the Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Research Institute (SUPDRI), which operates the building.

During the 2-day program László Hudec's architectural legacy and Hungarian design culture and architecture of the erawas were introduced. Through the professional relations of the foundation, Chinese experts of Hudec, including Michelle Quao, Shanghai Daily journalist and Hua Xiahong PhD, professor of architecture at Tongji University, as well as Hungarian art deco researchers, such as art historian Dániel Kovács, author of the book "Budapest Art Deco", and Éva Horányi chief museologist of the Apllied Arts Museum Buadpest gave astonishing presentations.

Art Deco Budapest Symposium

The 3-day symposium was surrounded by great interest, with nearly hundred participants in the prominent venues of Budapest: The lectures took place in the House of Hungarian Szecesszió (Bedő Ház), and in the Museum of Applied Arts while architectural walks and guided tours were organised to visit art deco sites including  the still functioning Atrium Theater. Honorable guest came from Paris, Chicago and Shanghai to get to know Budapest's art deco legacy and the history of the development of Central European art deco. In addition to lectures and architectural tours, the goal of the program was to present Budapest as a possible location for a future Art Deco World Congress to the invited leadership of the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies from Shanghai, Chicago and Paris.

Hudec Culture Walks - Besztercebánya

Locals and  Budapest based culture enthusiasts visited landmarks related to Hudec's life and work in Banska Bystrica and Vihnye as part of a one-day trip. The closing ceremony of the Hudec Culture Wlaks program was focusing on the official event of signing the memorandum with the participation of the professional organizations and professionals present, including the Hungarian Association of Architects, the Slovakian Hudec foundation (CALEH), the mayor of Banska Bystrica, and the Hudec Cultural Foundation from Budapest. The stated intention of the document: "...in the future, we will use all our strength and knowledge to support the Slovak-Hungarian-Chinese intentions, the purpose of which is to preserve the memory and life work of architect László Hudec, to make it known and to explore its values."

Homage to László Hudec

An amaizing outdoor festive were organised untitled "The door is open: to the East, to the West" in connection with the temporaray exhibition of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts. During the day, the program included a guided tour of the Építeszet-Hudec-Shanghai garden photo exhibition, a podium discussion, a screening of a documentary film about the life of László Hudec, a model-making workshop and a tour of Hudec buildings with VR glasses.
