Workshop

Our educational workshop programs were inspiring Chinese and Hungarian students with the architecture of László Hudec, and initiated fruitful educational relations between Chinese and Hungarian institutions, including the so-called Hudec Scholarship program as well.

HUDEC MEDIA WORKSHOP

The purpose of the 5-day international program was to record the current state of Hudec buildings in the city, their functions, their influences on the environment, on the cityscape and on the lives of people. The students of East China Normal University, (ECNU) School of Design in Shanghai created their visual sotires  in the form of photographs and videofilms inspired by the Hungarian Hudec archive and the Hudec exhibition currently taking place in Shanghai. The workshop program was led by: Dean Prof. Wei Shanong and Jiang Hongqing, Yao Rong, Lyu Jian, Zhong Yuzhe photographers and instructors in cooperation with Virág Csejdy, media designer. Finding Hudec workshop's result were curated and selected for an exhibition in FUGA Budapest.

The exhibition was suported by National Cultural Fund.

HUDEC ZONE

Hudec's architectural legacy in Shanghai serves as a bridge to deepen Chinese-Hungarian educational relations and introduce Budapest to the Far Eastern metropolis. Based on this concept, a week-long intensive course program announced at the BME Faculty of Architecture History and Monument Conservation and the MOME Institute of Architecture were ivolved. During the workshop week student created new concepts and models for a possible rehabilitation of the Columbia Circle villa district designed by L. E. Hudec in the 1930's. University professors and experts were invited for the final peresentation show.

HUNGARIAN DESIGN FORUM, SANGHAJ

The former Hudec family house located in Panyu Luba was filled with life and creative thoughts during the program of the 1-week long Design Fourum. In adition new dialogue were established between Chinese and Hungarian professionals and institutions. Although it is difficult to generate interest in the performance of a small country in such a dynamic metropolis, the programs were sold out and several press reports from Shanghai praised the initiative. The program were prepared by the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts in close cooperation with the Hudec Cultural Foundation, the Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai and universities in Shanghai. In addition to the lectures, the robot-kinetic installation, the Hudec Processor, which debuted in China, was presented and a Think inside the box workshop was held for Chinese students, and an exciting round table discussion of the subject: Gadgets vs. Design took place with the participation of professionals from Shanghai and Budapest
